Matthew 25:34-37 tells us, "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?"
I was so blessed by an article this morning. Ladies Against Feminism (promoting beautiful womanhood) shared an interesting perspective on this well known verse. Many know it. Most picture the service to the homeless, soup kitchens, people dying in hospital beds and criminals in dark, lonely cells.
But someone along the line thought.... what if this was applied to motherhood?
I am sure the other interpretation of this scripture is still accurate. But I know that many things Yeshua said have layers of meaning that we will never fully delve out.
I sit and consider these words. I remember, when I was a 'baby christian', as I call it, I wanted so much to go on a mission. I wanted to see the power of God move. I wanted to see people healed and saved. I wanted to be a part of something amazing.
And.... in an odd and completely unexpected way.... I am.
I get up in the morning and go on a mission. A mission to my family. I feed them when they are hungry. I tend them when they are sick. I bandage up their wounds. I sing to them when they are sad or scared. I hug them and kiss them. I share the love that YHWH shared with me. I teach them from His word. I pray for them night and day.
And I SEE the power of YHWH everyday.
I see little baby fingers and toes.
I see little mouths forming words.
I see little legs pumping to run and jump.
I see little minds listening and watching and learning.
I see seeds planted in dirt sprout and grow green and huge.
I see eggs laid and sitting in warmth before breaking open to reveal a new fluffy chick.
I see the bees gather their food and build their home.
I see the sun and the rain and the wind blowing the trees.
Maybe I make too much of these 'little' things.
But I KNOW that YHWH made each of these things, and directs them.
After describing the paths of the stars, the changing of the seasons and the growing of trees, Enoch 5:2 says, "And all His works go on thus from year to year for ever, and all the tasks which they accomplish for Him, and their tasks change not, but according as God hath ordained so is it done."
May I be as diligent in the duties that He has given to me.
