Psalm 119:126 - They have made your law void....

This verse strikes me. And it has me pondering.

It is time for You to act, O LORD, For they have regarded Your law as void. - Psalm 119:126

At which point is the law made void so that YHWH must act? What must happen to make His word void? His word doesn't return void. It does what He wills.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
- Isaiah 55:11

So the only way they make His word void is if His word is not going forth. If the word is not being heard. If the word is not be spoken. If the word is not being shared.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. - Romans 10:17

In some places on earth the word is illegal. But as long as people cling to His truth and are still willing to cross (taking our cross?) those lines in the sand, willing to suffer, willing to die, the word still prevails for those who yield it.

https://biblereasons.com/martyrs/ - Several verses here referring to the reality of martyrdom.

We need to ask ourselves if we are so faithful and willing.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works." - Matthew 16:24-27

We can see "cancel culture" and the "tolerant mobs" deleting history, rewriting it, censoring anything that offends them. We already know our word offends them. The reception lately, in what I would have considered moderate and reasonable audiences, to the name of Christ, or even, literally, the word God, has changed dramatically and darkly. Hatred. Disgust. The complete and utter rejection of the reminder of Him, His word, and ultimately, His Judgement.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. - 2 Timothy 4:3-5

This verse.... It excites me. This turn in social media concerned me, frightened me, hurt me.

This verse says....

He knew it was coming.

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. - John 15:18-19

And this is what he was waiting for.

This will get worse.

“Yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. - John 16:2

But when this is complete.....

He will move, He will act, He will save! He will do all that He has promised.
He is coming back.

“Behold, I am coming quickly! - Revelation 3:11

“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” - Revelation 22:7

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work". - Revelation 22:12

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! - Revelation 22:20

A Closer Look - Isaiah 28:10

This weeks torah portion includes an often quoted verse from Isaiah 28.

Isaiah 28:10 KJV
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Isaiah 28:13 KJV
But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

There is some debate about what this might mean.  Some say that the word is mocking Isaiah. Some say that each law was built on another law. Some say we must repeat the laws until they are ingrained in our hearts.

But I see it quite differently.

Let us look at the hebrew words used in this verse.

https://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/isa/28/1/t_conc_707010

https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H6673&t=KJV
Tsav = Precept, Commandment, Law

https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H6957&t=KJV
Qav = Line, Rule

https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H2191&t=KJV
Ze'eyr = Little, root = Dwindling, Taking away, Loss

So the hebrew text says only =
tsav tsav tsav tsav qav qav qav qav ze'eyr ze'eyr

law law law law rule rule rule rule loss loss

Isaiah 28:13 then gives us these same words within more context.

What does it look like if we put JUST a direct translation into this statement?

"But the word of YHWH was to them, "law law law law rule rule rule rule loss loss" that they might go and fall backward and be broken and snared and taken."

Interestingly the word tsav is used in ONE other verse that I believe adds to this understanding.

Hos 5:11 KJV
Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment. tsav H6673

In our current english language this sounds like Ephraim was oppressed and broken BECAUSE they walked in the law?  But looking closely again at the hebrew language we find that this verse implies something very different.

https://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/hos/5/11/t_conc_867011
Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgement, because he WILLFULLY (ya'al = foolishness, mental weakness) walked, after (achar = after, as in time) the tsav.

So we see that Ephraim did not walk in the law, but walked 'willfully' after the law was given.

Brought together these three verses make the concept of Isaiah 28:13 much more clear.

We were given the law.  But when we looked at it we (our forefathers) saw only rules, and lines, and continued loss of freedoms and goods.  We saw a to do list and no gains.  We chose to walk willfully instead.

The root here is that we SAW the law incorrectly.  So many use it as a checklist, do this, don't do that. We end up trudging along and losing sight of HIM.

"But the word of YHWH was to them, "law law law law rule rule rule rule loss loss" that they might go and fall backward and be broken and snared and taken."

This is a test.  When you see Torah, do you see 'law law law law rule rule rule rule loss loss"?

Or do you have eyes to see and ears to hear, The Father safeguarding and guiding His children?  Do you see HIM?

Keep looking and listening. HE is in there. And HE is beautiful.

Hanukkah - Dedicating Our Temples, Day 8

Oh what a joyous time this has been.  This testing, for me, was hard and at times very painful.  But having rooted some dirt out I feel braver and freer and closer to facing the future YHWH has for me and my family.

1 Cor 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Isa 64:4
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

Tonight is when my family will be lighting the candles for the last time for Hanukkah.  Of course this is not an ending.  This is the beginning of the rest of our walk with Him.  And here is where we LOUDLY declare our allegiance, our purpose and our master.

Mat 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Romans 6:15-23
15 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves,[a] you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For this last day of Hanukkah, my husband and I will set aside the necessary time to DEDICATE our home and family.

2Ch 7:9
And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

Neh 8:18
Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

We will use pure olive oil.

Exo 27:20
And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

Lev 24:2
Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.

Exo 25:6
Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,

We will mark the doors and windows.  We will mark the beds.  We will mark the children's foreheads.  We will sprinkle our gardening spaces.  We will mark each other's foreheads.

Exo 29:7
Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him.

Exo 29:21
And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him.

We will declare that THIS belongs to YHWH, for His glory, for HIS will. We declare that we willingly ask YHWH to have His way with us and do whatever He wants in our lives and in this space.  We shema, hear and do, the law of YHWH and ask that He be our Elohim, and we be His people.

Jos 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

And we will REJOICE.

To Till or Not To Till

The Bible does not say to till the ground. The word means to put in subjection and to work.  It is the same word for a man working. Our current farm practices of tilling destroy soil structure and kill beneficial bacteria, nemotodes and worms by cutting, breaking and crushing the soil. Does this sound like the labor put on man? Definitely not by YHWH!
