When We Choose Our King

Deu 17:14-15
When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me;
Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother.

Mat 12:48-50
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

1 Samuel 8:4-22
Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,
And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.
And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;
That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.
And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.
And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king.

1 Sam 10:17-19
And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;
And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you:
And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.

Mat 22:17
Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

Rom 13:1-14
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Shared Patterns in the Book of Daniel

Our Land of Captivity
Daniel and other boys of his generation were led away from their homes and brought into Babylon as slaves.  They did not have liberty and freedom.  They had no property of their own.  They were not given choices in food, clothing, education, housing.  They did as they were told or would suffer the consequences.
Throughout the ages, we have seem many forms of slavery.  Most quickly our minds works up images of shackles, whips, abject poverty.  But the enlightened man has pointed out that even a gilded cage is a form of slavery.
Today, even in America, where we have been gifted more freedom than most have ever seen in their lifetimes... it is a gilded cage that we live in.  Many are unaware of their limitations, their metaphorical shackles.
What am I speaking of??
Do you own your car?  Do you own your land?  Do you have a choice in your food?  Do you have freedom in choosing your education?  Do not answer so quickly but research these subjects.  Learn why one must register their car and use license plates.  Learn why after paying off the entirety of your mortgage you must continue to pay taxes yearly on your property or lose it. Learn which of your grocery stores clearly label your groceries with country of origin, organic or not and genetically modified or not across the board.  Learn about gmo free and organic seed and the impossibility of preventing hybridization from year to year. Once you open THIS door in your research you will find it hard to look at our life the same.
We are not FREE, but are captives, albeit in a gilded cage.
Daniel was also a captive in a gilded cage.  Raised in the palace, fed from the King's table, and taught by the King's wisest men.  But make no mistake that he was a slave nonetheless.

Children in the Word
Daniel was taken from his mother and his homeland while still a child.  Many have estimated he was but 10 years old.
Consider your education, by the age of 10.  Were you learned and well rooted in the Word of YHWH at that age?  Did you have the strength and foundation in the blessings and promises of YHWH to rightly discern truths and half truths and flat out lies?  If you have children around this age, do they know enough to stand on their own if surrounded by those who do not revere God?
Likewise, the church today, is FULL of people who have not read and studied the word, writing it on their hearts.  When surveys are done, many 'Christians' claim that the Bible cannot be taken literally, that it is outdated, and that it contains blatant cruelties and lies.  A learned bible student could answer these falacies easily.  But the average church goer is a mere baby in the word, not even having the PURE milk of the Old Testament, let alone the meat of weightier matters.. (Hebrews 5:12-14)
Many also put their children under the care of secular teachers at a much younger age today.  While some do homeschool, or seek private and charter school options, most parents dutifully put their children in government run, public schools at the age of 5 and are CRYING OUT for preschool to be covered across the country as well now.  These children are not taken from us, but are willingly placed into the care and learning of the heathen leaders of the day.  Unfortunately most of these children do not have the foundation of the word from their infancy, and what little seed was planted is choked out by a secular, humanist worldview.
Somehow, Daniel and others with him, WERE able to stand firm in the word of YHWH.  I am sure praise should be attributed to his mother and father. But I would also guess that the Holy Spirit gave Him much wisdom as he continued to grow and seek the face of His one and true God.

Although the bible does not clearly state that Daniel or the others were castrated, we know that it was a common practice to castrate the servant-slaves under the King.  And we know the the man in charge of them was called the "Prince of the Eunuchs" implying that he was in charge of the eunuchs.
The reasons for this practice included not allowing undesirables to mate, and making sure your servants were focused on their duties/learning and not distracted by 'hormones'.
Some would be quick to say, "We don't castrate people in our society!"  And truly, physically we do not.
However we have become more aware lately that our young men for a variety of reasons are NOT becoming strong, grounded and what has been considered masculine throughout history.  Even the scientific community has now labeled it and wonders at it.  Peter Pan Syndrome -  Our young men do not want the responsibility of marriage and children.  They waste their time playing games, taking selfies, worrying more about their fashion sense and appearance in a mirror than their courage, honesty, wisdom and virtue.  They date and have sex without any sense of obligation.  They relish the bread and circus, without the faintest consideration of what it could be truly costing them and their future, let alone others.
We have a nation full of adult men who have no core foundation and pose no threat to any who would choose to rule them.
And our young women are no better.

Defiled Food
Daniel pointedly begged the Prince of Eunuchs to allow him and others to eat only vegetables.  He was very concerned about the King's table.  While yes, it was covered in what was considered the height of luxury for most, biblically, it was not food.
Likewise, most of our 'food', at the grocery store is filled with ingredients that are NOT FOOD.  Studying Leviticus 11, we learn what YHWH says is good for food and what is not.  Once you start on this study and path you will find with growing horror that our food is purposefully defiled!
We know that biblically we are told not to eat pork ( This recent study on hot dogs found pork in ALL of them except the Hebrew National brand and human dna in MANY brands.
Pork is also used in many processed foods that you would not even consider to be remotely 'meat'.  Pickles that not labeled 'Kosher' are actually brined in pork fat.  Refried beans that are not labeled "Vegetarian' are cooked with pork fat.
Imitation Vanilla flavoring is made from a sweat gland on beavers and is simply listed as 'Natural Flavors' in most ingredient lists.
Some beers are filtered through catfish bones.
Aspartame is the excrement of genetically modified bacteria.
GMO corn was found to contain 13 ppm of glyphosate.
Regardless of your understanding of the biblical food laws, you cannot deny that our food supply has been handed over to unscrupulous corporate interests.
Studies have been shown that herbicides and pesticides and other toxins are showing up increasingly in our urine, breastmilk and blood.  These have known and unknown detrimental effects on ourselves and our children.

Food for Health and Healing
YHWH blessed these young men in the eyes of those who were in charge and they were allowed to eat clean foods.  And they were healthier and stronger for it.
Many are learning today that by switching to a Low Carbohydrate, Keto or Low Glycemic Diet, Whole Food Diet, Vegetarian or Vegan Diets, Juicing ( or Raw Food Diets that many of their health ailments completely go away.  They notice more energy, weight loss, and renewed hope where before they felt helpless and hopeless in the face of detrimental illnesses.  While on the surface these diets don't appear to have much in common, THEY DO! They cut out the main grain crops, rice, corn, and wheat, that are heavily treated with pesticides and increasingly genetically modified on a cellular level, containing actual poisons within them.  Many have found restored health by cutting out these three main ingredients in today's food system.

False Teachers
Babylon was FILLED with 'wise men', 'mages', and religious teachers.  But NONE of them pointed to the Creator God of the Bible!  NONE of them upheld the laws of YHWH.  None of them called out actual SIN.
Our society has so many talking heads! Youtube prophets, talk show hosts, mega church pastors, political figures and more.  Everyone pulling this way and that way and the masses running in the midst of this confusion.  This one says we must vote Democratic to show love to the poor man, this one says we must vote Republican to show love to the babe in the womb.  Neither of them caring about the collateral damage that comes with either choice. And history showing that their talking points don't even equal the promised action!  This one says we must support Israel without any stipulations, this one says we must support Palestine without any stipulations. AGAIN, neither of them caring about the people under these Men of War, the mere mensch losing regardless of who wins. War, death, hatred, and lies. Power and money ruling the world.

What other patterns can you see?

The word is a solid rock that stays the same, yesterday, today and forever. Read the word and when you do, find out what it is telling you about your walk today.

Epigenetics - Core Biblical Truth, Proven by Science

Epigenetics - Core Biblical Truth, Proven by Science

Your sins and the sins of your fathers/mothers are WRITTEN on our DNA.

Jeremiah 2:22
22 Though you wash yourself with lye
    and use much soap,
the stain of your guilt is still before me,
declares the Lord God.

Jeremiah 16:17
"For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes.

Jeremiah 17:1
17 The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;

To the Third and Fourth Generation.

Exodus 34:7
Keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.”

Deuteronomy 5:9
You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

Exodus 20:5
You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

Numbers 14:18
‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’

It is not sin, but predisposes the children to sin.

Deuteronomy 24:16
“Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.

Ezekiel 18:20
The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Only the WORD can cleanse us.

John 17:17
Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.

Ephesians 5:25-27
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

Leviticus 16:30
for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

1 Corinthians 6:11
... But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Acts 22:16
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, calling on His name.

Wrapping Up The Garden 2016

My Main Herb Garden.  The Chickens have dug it up daily.  Notice all the mulch OUTSIDE the bed. So I have some SAD herbs clinging to life in there.  I have Marjoram, Oregano, Lavendar, Thyme, Parsley, Sage, Catnip and Celeriac in there.  I planted a few squashes because they fill up the space and provide shade in the hot season. But... it didn't work out this year.  NEXT year this will not happen.

Some of the HOARD.  I got the main group back into their pen today.  I know there is no lovely grass and peas and beans and mulch for them to play in, like the gardens.  They currently get about 8-10 gallons of feed daily, have two 7 gallon waterers and a kiddie pool that is filled a couple times a day.
They must remain penned for my sanity during the gardening season.

The Quail Hutch.  We have two mating sets right now and hope to expand in the future. They get about 1 half gallon of feed every other day and each cage has a two gallon waterer. Very low maintenance for delicious and high protein meat and eggs. I know, small.  But every little bite counts!

The sheep.  This is a new venture on our homestead.  The sheep are VERY different than goats and I am pleased with them so far.  They eat ALOT of greens though and as the season draws to a close here, we need to seriously consider the burden of feeding one, two or three through the winter.  The cut male will go in the freezer and the females hopefully will be bred for spring lambs!

They are INCREDIBLY friendly.  And when they have options they do steer clear of my gardens.  I appreciate that.

I try to grow my 'spreading' plants in tires, such as this comfrey.  It is a wonderful medicinal herb (drawing and healing), can supplement up to 50% of livestock feed (if you had enough), and is an excellent green manure, with a high nitrogen count.

Chocolate mint is another favorite here.  Nearing the end of the season, I'll be cutting this all down and hanging it to dry for tea through the winter months.  The kids like to grab leaves for car rides, as mint settles the stomach and can help alleviate car sickness.

These WERE the three sisters beds, with beans, corn and squash.  This section didn't thrive as it should have because it didn't get watered enough.  I learned that such intensive planting will only survive with LOTS of water.  It came close and was thrilling, but when the hot weather hit, it was hard to keep up with the watering needs of plants and animals.  The animals had the priority. So no corn this year. :(

I planted potatoes in here and grew.... a dozer! LOL The potatoes grew great in here and since the plant is now dead I can harvest those babies any day now.

This potato bucket can be left longer.  I try to harvest ALLLLL my potatoes and I still have them growing back time and again.  But one thing my family doesn't mind is more potatoes. Garden fresh potatoes. YUM!

Ahhhh, my real pride this year.  I only got half of the greenhouse ready and then proceeded to plant it with 5 rows.  This was obviously TOOOOOO much and I can barely walk in there.  But it is awesome to see. Cucumbers, Pumpkins, Tomatoes, Peppers and more.  I even have sweet potatoes under it all!  It is time to go in there and thin the vegetation to ease harvesting.  It will be an adventure for sure.  Notice all the milk jugs to the side (there are WAY MORE you can't see).  I do 'Winter Sowing'. LOVE IT! Works so amazingly well.

Soccer ball sized pumpkins hiding in the folliage.

Green tomatoes by the ton.  In the greenhouse I probably stil have two months for them to ripen, so I'm not worried.  I was surprised the greenhouse tomatoes ripened MUCH later than the outdoor toms.

I grew pickling cucumbers this year.  Yes, this is one of them.  I let them grow ENORMOUS because I love cucumber salad, everyday.  The skin gets hard when they are this big, so I skin them and they taste amazing.  But I still have a million little ones going in there and would like to try making actual pickles.  Because we love pickles too, everyday. :)

This pumpkin is completely hidden about 10 feet away from the plant.  Bigger than a basketball! Wow!

Yes, the shoddiest greenhouse you ever saw.  But you saw whats going on inside.  I can take all the flack with a smile. :)

A row of sunflowers, some ready to harvest. EXCITING!!!!  I have a few bunches elsewhere too, as I planted them 6 different times this year.  Previously I have had alot of issues with sunflowers. Chickens. Mice. Birds. Slugs. Goats.  I put alot of effort into these babies and it finally paid off.

My brassica bed.  I got alot of great kale salads (when you pick it young it is sweet and tender) and cabbage and broccoli leaves and a few little broccolis.  I have yet to grow a REAL CABBAGE.  Still trying.  In late July the kale in this bed got overrun with aphids and I wasn't able to kick them.  I chopped them all back and they regrew now and look great.  I look forward to my salad tomorrow!

Pattypans and white summer squashes.  I think I am falling behind on the zucchinis.

I clearly need to start making more zucchini bread!

First time trying Jerusalem Artichoke.  They grow ENORMOUS stalks and are supposed to flower in mid August.  They did not.  The flavor of the 'sunchoke' isn't great.  But the stalks and leaves make great fodder for the sheep (my son harvested some stalks yesterday and wasn't very thorough apparently). I hear SLOW COOKED sunchokes taste sweeter.  We'll give that a try soon.

My horseradish, although growing and spreading does not look happy.  This could be because of the water shortage again.  It doesn't take much root for a good sized jar though, so I'm not worried.  But I usually enjoy eating the leaves throughout the season, and these didn't look appetizing.  We're adding a spigot closer to the garden though and that should remedy lack of watering.

A line of fruit trees behind my garden.  These trees are 5 years old and this was the first harvest we got from the pear, peach and gala apple.  DELICIOUS!  I'm all for planting the whole acreage with fruit trees now. :)

My new fig tree.  So young and delicate.  I have a WALL of buckets around it for most of the year to make sure NOTHING touched it. It is so sweet, it even grew figs!

A 'weed' popped up in my garden (it had white flowers which have gone to seed).  I kept it around because I felt it was something important.  It turned out to be Yarrow!  This is another medicinal plant.  I'll have to collect the seed, collect some of the plant and roots and dry them. Then I'll research what it is good for and how to prepare it. Learn by DOING!

One of my mint beds.  It smells amazing.  I have some sunflowers to the front of it that have decided to bloom too late to accomplish much (but they're pretty). And to the left I had the hummingbird feeders and more Jerusalem Artichoke.  It made a lovely bed at the entrance of my house.  But the sheep needed them.  They'll grow back next year though!

My slapdash Chicken Coop and Quail Hutch, with an additional little hutch where I put the temporaries.  It may not be pretty for sure.  But it does the job and cost nearly nothing.  Right now I'm debating on moving my chicken coop and pen during the rainy season and using that area for a garden next year.... or shovelling all the stuff out.  Regardless, as I wrap up this harvest, I wend my way around to prepping for next spring and hope for a bigger, better garden and more birds and more sheep and maybe a milk cow.  Alot of work, but ALOT of fun too.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!!

This year's lesson...

Fences DO make better neighbors. I'm not talking my people neighbors right now. I'm talking chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and sheep.

When they are in their spacious pens, all is peaceful, beautiful, a joy.  I provide their feed and water, fresh throughout the day.  They love me and look up to me.  I love them and enjoy them.

When they are out....  They destroy everything I hold dear.  They eat the gardens, dig up the roots of delicate plants, empty the beds of mulch and poop on the vehicles and porches.

Fences.  A farmer's BEST FRIEND. <3
