The Drop Box - A Story of True Love

Lately the news has been filled with some heart wrenching stories, the abuse and murder of sweet little children and babies.  Understandably they are followed with cries of outrage, disgust, vengeance....

But what can be done to stop it?

In Seoul, South Korea, one pastor came up with a plan.  It is called "The Drop Box".  And anyone can leave their baby there, no questions asked, anytime day or night.  Babies are left sometimes in the middle of the night, with or without notes, sometimes a woman is brave and comes inside to speak with those at the church.

A documentary on this wonderful story will be released soon. -  Below is a promotional video.  It is just beautiful.

UPDATE - Controversy over the Drop Box???

Drop Box Controversy - UN proposes baby boxes be outlawed because they violate the "rights of the child". They argue that the child has a right to know their parentage.  Countering this argument, the drop box proponents point out that while it is important to know where you came from, one must SURVIVE first.

1930: Rare footage of Helen Keller speaking with the help of Anne Sullivan

The story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan is truly one of inspiration, love, and fortitude.  Having lost her ability to hear and see as an infant, Helen Keller was essentially unable to communicate meaningfully with any.  Without the absolutely AWESOME gift of Anne Sullivan, Helen Keller's life would have been truly bereft and hollow.

Instead, it has turned into one of HOPE in the face of any adversity and great loss.

"Show Him Your Badge!" LOL

A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas, and talked with an old rancher. He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The rancher said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....", as he pointed out the location.

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me!" Reaching into his rear pants pocket, the arrogant officer removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher. "See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land !! No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear?.... do you understand?!!"

The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores. A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull...... With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified. The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs.....

"Your badge, show him your BADGE!!"

"I prayed out loud." OK Teacher During Tornado

This hit me hard.

As a believer in the Elohim of the Bible, I pray.

But I can remember EVERY TIME that I prayed out loud.

Why do I remember?

Because I did it when I was completely terrified, or someone else was, and I knew of NOTHING ELSE that would bring us through.  I also remember because every single time I prayed out loud.... YHWH moved.

YHWH heard you Rhonda and blessed your OUT LOUD trust in Him.  May people hear your testimony and open their hearts to Him.

Mothers and Matthew 25:34-37

Matthew 25:34-37 tells us, "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?"

I was so blessed by an article this morning.  Ladies Against Feminism (promoting beautiful womanhood) shared an interesting perspective on this well known verse.  Many know it.  Most picture the service to the homeless, soup kitchens, people dying in hospital beds and criminals in dark, lonely cells.

But someone along the line thought.... what if this was applied to motherhood?

I am sure the other interpretation of this scripture is still accurate.  But I know that many things Yeshua said have layers of meaning that we will never fully delve out.

I sit and consider these words.  I remember, when I was a 'baby christian', as I call it, I wanted so much to go on a mission.  I wanted to see the power of God move.  I wanted to see people healed and saved.  I wanted to be a part of something amazing.

And.... in an odd and completely unexpected way.... I am.

I get up in the morning and go on a mission.  A mission to my family.  I feed them when they are hungry.  I tend them when they are sick.  I bandage up their wounds.  I sing to them when they are sad or scared.  I hug them and kiss them.  I share the love that YHWH shared with me.  I teach them from His word.  I pray for them night and day.

And I SEE the power of YHWH everyday.

I see little baby fingers and toes.
I see little mouths forming words.
I see little legs pumping to run and jump.
I see little minds listening and watching and learning.
I see seeds planted in dirt sprout and grow green and huge.
I see eggs laid and sitting in warmth before breaking open to reveal a new fluffy chick.
I see the bees gather their food and build their home.
I see the sun and the rain and the wind blowing the trees.

Maybe I make too much of these 'little' things.

But I KNOW that YHWH made each of these things, and directs them.

After describing the paths of the stars, the changing of the seasons and the growing of trees, Enoch 5:2 says, "And all His works go on thus from year to year for ever, and all the tasks which they accomplish for Him, and their tasks change not, but according as God hath ordained so is it done."

May I be as diligent in the duties that He has given to me.

Feast of Weeks - Shavuot - Pentecost

The Feast of Weeks begins tonight. We celebrate the old covenant - the giving of the law of stone tablets, and we celebrate the new covenant - the giving of the law on our hearts made flesh.

Leviticus 23:15-22 (NKJV)
The Feast of Weeks
15 ‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. 16 Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord. 17 You shall bring from your dwellings two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven. They are the firstfruits to the Lord. 18 And you shall offer with the bread seven lambs of the first year, without blemish, one young bull, and two rams. They shall be as a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma to the Lord. 19 Then you shall sacrifice one kid of the goats as a sin offering, and two male lambs of the first year as a sacrifice of a peace offering. 20 The priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a wave offering before the Lord, with the two lambs. They shall be holy to the Lord for the priest. 21 And you shall proclaim on the same day that it is a holy convocation to you. You shall do no customary work on it. It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
22 ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field when you reap, nor shall you gather any gleaning from your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger: I am the Lord your God.’”

Acts 2:1-4
2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord[a] in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Hebrews 8:10-12
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

May the Holy Spirit fill us and write the law of YHWH our Elohim upon our hearts.

Shavuot - Pentecost: Explained in 4 Minutes

Cleaning Your Hair Without Shampoo and Conditioner

I have discovered a great way to wash my hair without purchased shampoos and conditioners.

Initially, you may want to know WHY would anyone want to wash their hair without the beautiful scented and lathery wonder found in bottled shampoo?  For me, it was simple.... One day, as a teenager, I ran out of1a shampoo and conditioner.  Living far from town and not having a vehicle available at the time, I didn't have the option of purchasing more.  And since I was young and in school, I felt it was EXTREMELY necessary to wash my hair EVERY day.  I couldn't possibly see my friends without my morning shower, teethbrushing, make up, etc.

So my grandmother suggested an 'old timey' method.  Washing the hair with an egg, and rinsing with apple cider vinegar.  My first attempt at this worked well.  The egg lathered nicely actually.  The apple cider vinegar did enable me to get a comb through my hair.  My friends said they could not smell the vinegar at all (though I could).  So for the most part I was satisfied.  But I still preferred and stuck to my store bought shampoos and conditioners.  And made sure I was stocked in these 'necessary' items.

Now many years have passed.  I still have long hair, that neeeeeeeds to be washed.  However with my children, planting, animals, dishes, laundry, etc..... I don't get to shower every day.

With my usual choices of shampoo and conditioner, I felt the NEED to wash my hair usually every 3 or 4 days.  At this point, it was starting to look greasy, matted together on my head.  And... if I had not rigorously brushed it a few times a day..... I was building up a good rats nest at the nape of my neck.  My hair LOVES to get tied in knots apparently.  So I would wash with ample quantities of shampoo and conditioner and then take a brush to breakdown that knotted mess.

Lately however, I have been learning more about store bought soaps.  I have recently learned that many contain chemicals that are known to cause allergic reactions, build up on the scalp, and even contain cancer causing ingredients.  Information can be found on the danger of parabens, aluminum and even lead in many cleaning, health and cosmetic supplies that we use everyday.

I kind of threw up my hands for a while with this information.  What could I do?  I have to CLEAN myself!  I can't go around smelling and looking like a 'dirty hippy'.

But then I found an article that directly addressed psoriasis sufferers and the buildup of shampoo on the scalp making it worse.  I personally have psoriasis and the scalp area is difficult to maintain because of this exact issue.  Too much scrubbing or too harsh of cleansers make it worse.  Not enough scrubbing ot too much buildup make it worse.  I have in the past limited the length of my hair for this very reason.

It recommended cleaning the hair with plain baking soda, made into a paste with water and scrubbed into the scalp.

Rinse with water.

Then rinse the hair and scalp with apple cider vinegar.

Finish by rinsing thoroughly with water.

Even with the 'success' from my teenaged experiment, I was skeptical that it would work, let alone make a significant difference in the health and brush-ability of my hair.  But once again.... I ran out of shampoo and conditioner and it would be several days before I could get to the store.

So I tried it.

I grabbed a box of baking soda and filled a pint jar with apple cider vinegar and went to take my shower.  I poured maybe half a cup of baking soda into my hand and mixed in some water to make a paste.  I then scrubbed it onto my scalp.  I got more baking soda if I felt I missed a spot.  Then I rinsed it clean.

Then with my head back, one hand holding my hair into a clump at the back of my neck I slowly poured out the apple cider vinegar over my hair.  (NOTE!  The apple cider vinegar will not be as warm as your shower and will be quite chilly!  It will also sting if you have ANY little cuts on your body.  You will, however, survive this somewhat harsh treatment.)  INSTANTLY, my hair fell through my hands SMOOTH and SILKY feeling.  The knots literally melted away.

I rinsed thoroughly with water to avoid the smell of vinegar on me.

When my hair dried it appeared and felt QUITE clean.  I was very happy.

After this I was EXTREMELY busy with planting and shoveling up truckloads of manure and putting in a fence for my chickens.  Some seasons around here I just have TOOOOOO much to do!  Because of this, I am embarrassed to admit, I did not have time to wash my hair for 8 days.  In fact I jumped in the shower one morning to do the bare minimum cleaning and jumped out in under 2 mins because there was NO HOT WATER!!!

My hair still looked great!  It didn't get that greasy buildup at the scalp.  It even remained easier to brush than before.

I now use this method to wash my hair always.  I am incredibly happy with it and highly recommend you try it!

When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” Revelation 6:5-6

Counting the Omer Day 44 ~ Memory Verse

I believe that I shall see the goodness of YHWH in the land of the living.

Psalm 27:13

Hebrew for Christians shared -
"The counting from Passover to Shavuot is carried out as one who waits for the coming of the human being he loves best, as if counting the days and hours" (Maimonides). If the Passover redemption is incomplete without the the giving of the Torah at Sinai, how much more is redemption given by Messiah, the true Lamb of God, incomplete without the advent of the Spirit? The cross leads to the revelation of "deeper Torah," imbued by the inward power of the Holy Spirit that quickens our hearts to long for the coming of our Beloved Savior and the establishment of his kingdom over all the earth...

You Are My Strong Tower

Stuck in my head today.......

Moment of Silence

With Gosnell's sentencing in the works, many around the US are speaking about 'abortion'.  Reading my own local news on the latest, him being found guilty on three counts, I am immensely saddened.

"Both sides of the abortion divide seized on the case. Abortion foes said it exposed the true nature of abortion in all its disturbing detail. Abortion rights activists warned that Gosnell's rogue practice foreshadows what poor and desperate young women could face if abortion is driven underground with more restrictive laws."

What they fail to recognize is that 'legal abortion' did not protect these women.  I believe that "Abortion is the surest sign that we are failing women miserably."  This case ONLY came to light because it failed them even by their poor standards.

And what they refuse to recognize is the 'abortion' always ends in death.

If instead of one minute (the common 'moment' of silence), you dedicated one SECOND of silence for each aborted child..... you would be silent for one year and eight months.

Yesterday was mother's day.  Around here people were giving cards and gifts and kisses to their mothers for loving them, caring for them.  I sat for one minute....  60 seconds and each second I considered....

1 baby...
2 babies...
3 babies.........

As the clock ticked, it felt louder and heavier and the impact was felt in each beat of my own heart.  It left me nauseated and weak.  It hurt.

Consider.... one year and eight months..... Tick..... Tock..... Tick....

And I remember also,

Psalm 139:13
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

Isaiah 44:2
Thus says the Lord who made you And formed you from the womb...

Isaiah 49:5
“And now the Lord says, Who formed Me from the womb....

Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you....

2 Chronicles 28:3
He burned incense in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

Ezekiel 16:20-21
20 “Moreover you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore to Me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your acts of harlotry a small matter, 21 that you have slain My children and offered them up to them by causing them to pass through the fire?

Genesis 4:10
And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.

Numbers 14:11
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me?

Do you feel the heaviness of that ticking clock?  How must it feel to a righteous God who forms those little helpless babes?

Mother Teresa, "The Best Way To End Abortion..."

When Mother Teresa of Calcutta was asked by a young mother about the best way to proceed with pro-life work, she responded emphatically, “Have a big family. That is the best way to end abortion!”

How this works is not difficult to understand. As children become more rare due to contraception, sterilization and abortion, whole segments of society become less and less familiar with the sense of joy and hope that only babies and children can give. In this climate, contraception and abortion feed on themselves, as the increasingly selfish few further reduce their number.

By having another child, you demonstrate once again to the world that children are God’s greatest gifts. “Children build up the life of the family and society,” as Pope John Paul II has said. “The child becomes a gift to its brothers and sisters, parents and entire family. Its entire life becomes a gift for the very people who were givers of life and who cannot help but feel its presence, its sharing in their life and its contribution to the common good and to the community of the family.”

The more children there are in society, the more pro-life that society will become, and the easier it will be for the great evil of abortion to be eradicated once and for all.

“Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19

LDS Canneries Halt Canning

Having visited and shared about the canneries in the past here, I am saddened to report they will no longer be canning.  This is a huge blow to those who seek long term storage foods.  The service at their canneries is simply amazing.  Their food is high quality and well priced.  This was an excellent service that they provided to many of us in the homesteading and prepping community.

C.S. Lewis on Marriage

"I should like to distinguish two things which are very often confused. The Christian conception of marriage is one: the other is the quite different question – how far Christians, if they are voters or Members of Parliament, ought to try to force their views of marriage on the rest of the community by embodying them in the divorce laws. A great many people seem to think that if you are a Christian yourself you should try to make divorce difficult for every one. I do not think that. At least I know I should be very angry if the Mohammedans tried to prevent the rest of us from drinking wine. My own view is that the Churches should frankly recognise [sic] that the majority of the British people are not Christians and, therefore, cannot be expected to live Christian lives. There ought to be two distinct kinds of marriage: one governed by the State with rules enforced on all citizens, the other governed by the Church with rules enforced by her on her own members. The distinction ought to be quite sharp, so that a man knows which couples are married in a Christian sense and which are not."

C. S. Lewis

Hebrews 10:26-29

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
