Engaging In The Act of WAR

Daily, we face an enemy, the enemy of our souls and the father of lies. The bible encourages us often to be VIGILANT, to be READY, to be WATCHING, for our enemy is like a roaring lion WAITING to devour us.

1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

I have seen his handiwork in many lives, depression, anxiety, mental illness, drug abuse, and destroyed families. His goal clearly is to drag us from the Salvation of Christ. His desire to keep us from the great glory that God wills for our lives.

But how do we stand against a supernatural, powerful, spiritual enemy?

It is, just like Good News, surprising simple!

Psalm 91:15 - He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

Ephesians 6:10-18 - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

I try to daily pray this prayer.....
Dear Father God,
Please put on me the Full Armor of God.
Put on me the Breastplate of Righteousness.
(I indicate my chest as I imagine the breastplate covering my heart and body.)
Put on me the Belt of Truth.
(I indicate my waist as I imagine the belt being placed around me.)
Put on my feet the Preparation for the Gospel of Peace.
(I indicate my feet as I imagine putting on strength and courage to share the Good News of Salvation.)
Put in my one hand the Shield of Faith, which can quell the fiery darts of the evil one.
(I indicate non-dominant arm as I imagine holding a large shield that protects me from my enemies.)
Put in my other hand the Sword of the Spirit, the word of God that is sharper than any two edged sword, and can cut to the division of bone and marrow, soul and spirit, and does not fall void.
(I indicate my predominant hand as I imagine holding this supernatural sword.)
And put on my head the Helmet of Salvation, the assurance of my standing with You.
(I indicate my head as I imagine the helmet being slipped onto my forehead, and the promise of the Holy Spirit's seal on our foreheads as true believers.)
In Jesus' name. Amen.

And I leave you with this beautiful bible chapter about the Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God.
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

- May God richly bless you and yours. <3
